In my heart of hearts I'm a beach bum. I'm a Pisces so it resonates with my soul. I've taken many walks along many beaches, giving thanks and finding comfort in the power of the ocean waves and the softness of the sand.
On this morning's walk, while on a solo journey to the Outer Banks, I thought about how many times in my life I've given heartache over to the vast and powerful sea. It just seems large enough to serve as a container for that which I cannot carry.
It's always very cathartic for me to sit in the sand, take pen to paper, release my hurts and sorrows, and the desires of my heart to something greater than myself. Our pain can be a beautiful path to exposing the deepest part of ourselves that needs to be revealed and released in order to live the highest, most authentic version of ourselves. I believe we must make room in our hearts for the unraveling and the revealing. It's not a matter of "getting over our pain," or "moving on." It's more about creating space to welcome rays of hope for our future.
The ocean is my container. This morning I gave thanks for it and the welcome relief it brings to my soul. .
